Swirl - CREATURELAND X CAMILLE BIDDELL
Created in collaboration with artist Camille Biddell. This terracotta creature is part of a small collection of sculptures created by myself and beautifully decorated by Cam.
W x 3.5 inches
H x 4.5 inches
I met Cam in January 2025, where we started working as a team during our internships at Glasgow Ceramics Studio. I very quickly fell in love with her pottery - her work is full of texture, pattern, layers and beautiful colours that all come together to create the most incredible work of functional art, perfect for your homes.
Cam decorated the creatures using a her collection of stamps and roulettes, which she has carved or imprinted from found objects. She the dipped, painted and trailed with different coloured slips, building up layers. The glazes used are rich honey, copper and transparent, and each finished sculpture has been embellished with gold lustre.
Camille makes contemporary slipware, combining hand-building with throwing to create unique pieces that reimagine historic forms from metalwork and ceramics, through terracotta clay and coloured slip. Camille is inspired by the UK's rich ceramic heritage, both from studio pottery and industrial ceramics. She makes objects that straddle function and decoration, embossed with found textures and recurring motifs from her surroundings.

Welcome to Creatureland! I have been creating fun little creatures since 2019 - each one is lovingly handbuilt and handpainted. I love creating beings that are silly and bring joy to your homes.
The item will be wrapped in hex-wrap (an eco-friendly paper alternative to bubble-wrap) and nestled into a bed of packing peanuts for a safe, secure journey.
Handmade ceramic works can have cracks, chips, glaze issues and other kinds of imperfections. I make sure to include photos of any of these areas and I aim to be transparent - what you see is what you'll get :)
